Non-alcoholic Italian lime negroni

Non-alcoholic Italian lime Negroni

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

The original Negroni recipe dates back to the early 19s. Of course we make that Negroni with alcohol, this alcohol-free Italian lime Negroni is a nice variation on that. It owes its name to the Italian Count Camillo Negroni. He was poured this drink in which the recipe for an Americano was diluted with Gin. There is also a Dutch version in which the gin is replaced by Jenever. So you see again that there is also plenty of variation possible in the world of drinks. We now serve this cocktail as a mocktail, just as tasty but without the hangover!

Non-alcoholic Italian lime negroni

If you fancy a nice cocktail with an Italian touch, this Negroni recipe is for you. This recipe is based on the classic Negroni, which consists of equal parts gin, Campari and red vermouth. But in this recipe we also add some lime juice to give the cocktail a fresh and fruity twist.

The lime juice ensures that the bitter edge of the Campari is softened somewhat. Campari is a well-known Italian liqueur with a bittersweet taste, which is made from herbs and fruit.

Making Negroni
Making a Negroni with lime and Elderflower tonic, a kind of Spritzer.

It is a popular ingredient for many cocktails, such as the Negroni. But you can also experiment further with the Negroni and add other drinks. For example, I once used an Elderflower tonic, which has a floral and sweet taste.

With this you turn your Negroni into a kind of Spritzer, a cocktail with sparkling water or soft drink. So you see that you can go in many directions with the Negroni and that you can always create another delicious drink by mixing with different flavors.

Ingredients:

  • 2 limes
  • 60 ml non-alcoholic gin
  • 60 ml non-alcoholic campari
  • 60 ml non-alcoholic vermouth

Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.

And this is how you make it:

  • Squeeze the juice from 1 of the limes, cut two slices from the other and use a sharp knife to cut around the flesh from the slice. Stick a skewer through the peel with, for example, a flower or a raspberry.
  • Measure the drink with the jigger (special measuring cup) and put this in a shaker that you have filled with ice. Pour in the lemon juice and shake vigorously.
  • Pour the Negroni into the coupe glasses and hang the lime decoration on the glass.
  • Cheers!
-For all these versions of non-alcoholic drinks, I can recommend Lyre's. They have a wide range of all spirits but in the 0.0% version.
