Barraquito Canary Coffee Cocktail

Barraquito Canary Coffee Cocktail

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Hola guapas y guapos! Yes we celebrate two Canary weeks here at Delicious Happen. For two weeks we make the toppers of these wonderful islands. This Barraquito Canarian coffee cocktail could not be missed because this drink has a bit of sun in the glass. It is often drunk after dinner as a dessert. I called it a cocktail because the yellow layer in the glass is the sweet liquor 43.

Just a post on Friday with some alcohol in it. Although there are also liqueur versions that are alcohol-free. But this time we're making a real classic like it "heurt"!

Barraquito Canary Coffee Cocktail

The Canary Islands are a group of volcanic islands located just south of Morocco in the Atlantic Ocean. You might think that these islands are named after the little yellow bird, but that is not the case. The name comes from the Latin Canariae Insulae, which means dog islands! That is because many wild dogs used to live on the islands.

In the flag you can see two dogs standing next to the coat of arms. The birds owe their name to the island and not the other way around.

The Canary Islands are part of Spain and therefore also have a delicious Spanish cuisine. But there are also many influences from other cultures and you will discover them even more here at Delicious bites. A typical drink that you can taste on all the islands is the barraquito Canarian coffee cocktail.

This is a coffee with milk, condensed milk, liqueur, cinnamon and lemon zest. You can see the different layers in the glass. It is a drink for adults, because it contains alcohol.

Here you will find the complete recipe with all the ingredients you need. I hope you have fun preparing the dish below.

You need:

Ingredients:

  • 200 ml All espresso brewing methods
  • 200 ml Full Milk
  • 80 ml liquor 43
  • 50 ml condensed milk
  • cinnamon powder
  • 1 citroen - of this 2 strips of the peel

Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.

And this is how you make it:

  • First make the coffee and froth the milk in your milk frother.
  • Spoon a layer of condensed milk into two glasses.
  • Then carefully pour a layer of liquor 43.
  • Then you pour some milk and foam from the frother into the glass over the convex side of a spoon, then let some coffee "slide" over the convex side of the spoon into the glass. This creates beautiful layers.
  • Finish with some foam on the glass and sprinkle with cinnamon. Serve with the lemon zest strips on the glass.
  • Cheers!

This Peruvian pisco sour cocktail that you can certainly drink on the islands.

Mangoes are also plentiful, try this fresh mango margarita cocktail with tequila.

But this fresh Italian scroppino with lemon sorbet ice cream is also a refreshing drink!
