Blood orange whiskey sour

Blood orange whiskey sour

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

The season is almost coming to an end, the blood orange is only available for a few months, so grab your chance! I think the color of a blood orange is just a bit nicer than that of a normal one. And that is also reflected in this blood orange whiskey sour. The name "sour" suggests that it is a very sour drink, but that is not so bad. Relatively much less lemon juice is used, it is just that acidity that makes it very fresh in taste. A whiskey sour cocktail recipe

And yes, this cocktail can also be made very well as a mocktail. Another version, by the way, is to replace the whiskey with amaretto. Then it becomes a slightly sweeter drink. If that's your thing then you definitely want to make it. Making cocktails yourself is super simple, and really something different on a Saturday night than a standard beer or wine.

I really don't care what whiskey you use. You certainly don't have to use your most expensive one, it's more a matter of taste. This way you have quite "woody" whiskeys and they will certainly give your cocktail a different taste.

You need:

Ingredients:

  • 100 ml whiskey
  • 80 ml blood orange juice
  • 40 ml lemon juice
  • 1 protein

Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.

And this is how you make it:

  • Grab the whiskey glasses and place them at an angle in a Tupperware container. Fill the glasses with water and put in the freezer. This way the ice freezes at an angle in the glass for a nice playful effect. Freeze at least 1 day in advance.
  • Remove the zest from 1 orange and cut a "lip shape" out of it. In the middle you make a cut to be able to put the kiss on the glass.
  • Grab your shaker and add all the ingredients and shake for 30 seconds.
  • Then add a few ice cubes to the shaker and shake again for 30 seconds.
  • Pour the cocktail into the glasses and put the kiss on the glass and serve!
  • Cheers!
