Caribbean pineapple carpaccio
Today I have a delicious summer recipe for you. A Caribbean pineapple carpaccio with white rum. This is a fresh and fruity dessert with a tropical twist. It's so simple to make, but so delicious to eat. You can imagine yourself on a sunny island with this dessert. Pineapple BBQ recipes dessert recipe .
Pineapple is one of my favorite fruits. It's sweet, juicy and refreshing. And it also has all kinds of health benefits. Did you know that pineapple is rich in vitamin C, fiber and bromelain? Bromelain is an enzyme that aids in digestion and inhibits inflammation. Pineapple is therefore good for your immune system, your intestines and your skin.
But pineapple is also very tasty. Especially if you combine it with white rum. Rum is a strong drink made from sugar cane or molasses. It has a sweet and spicy flavor that pairs well with tropical fruits. Rum originates from the Caribbean, where it has been drunk and used in cooking for centuries.
We once went to the Dominican Republic, where it was even cheaper than regular drinking water. We enjoyed the beautiful beaches, the friendly people and the delicious rum there. One of the most famous brands there is Brugal, which is also for sale in the Netherlands. But of course you can use any white rum you like.
For this recipe you need a fresh pineapple, which you will peel and cut yourself. That is a bit of a job, but the result is worth it. You can also buy pre-cut pineapple, but it is often less juicy and sweet than a fresh one. Moreover, you can make nice thin slices with a fresh pineapple, which you need for the carpaccio.
You cut the pineapple into thin slices and place them on a large dish or plate. Then you make a marinade of white rum, honey, lime juice and red pepper. You pour it over the pineapple and let it soak in for a while. The rum gives the pineapple a nice kick, the honey makes it sweeter, the lime provides freshness and the pepper gives it a kick.
You serve the pineapple carpaccio with a scoop of lime ice cream or lemon ice cream. That finishes it off. The ice melts on the warm pineapple and gives a delicious contrast of cold and warm, sweet and sour. This is really a dessert to enjoy. It's easy to make, but it looks very festive.
This is a perfect dessert for a summer day or evening. It's also great to make when you have guests over, as you can make it ahead of time and keep it in the fridge until you want to serve it. Then all you have to do is add the ice. Pineapple BBQ recipes dessert recipe .
