Of course you won't say no to the invitation to attend the Hilton herring party in Amsterdam! This party is really a household name and the festive kick-off of the herring season. In mid-June you would expect that the sun would shine and that the weather would be beautiful, but on departure from Brabant to Amsterdam, there was quite a bit of rain. Was this okay? The Hilton Amsterdam is a luxury hotel located in the center of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The hotel has a beautiful view of the city and is ideally located close to famous attractions such as Leidseplein and the Rijksmuseum. Hilton Amsterdam

Traditionally every year the party is held in the garden of the Hilton. With a beautiful view of the Noorder Amstelkanaal and a beautifully decorated garden, we arrived with a few drops that fell from the sky. Measures had certainly been taken because there was a beautiful pavilion. Of course I had Luuk at my side, who, just like me, was really looking forward to this party. The 27th edition of the Hilton herring party in Amsterdam is known as the party that attracts a lot of attention, beautiful dresses, beautiful suits and the hair neatly styled.

Known and unknown

Like every year, a lot of famous Dutch people come to this party. And we have certainly seen and spoken to them. For example, I spoke briefly with Olcay Gulcen who was present for RTLboulevard at that time and was also present for the first time. The party was kicked off in a spectacular way by the Italian Clio Togni. With a mega splash in a water basin she put on a beautiful show and conjured up the first keg of herring. None other than Roberto Payer and Eric van As received it and so the herring could begin.

Of course Luuk and I tasted a herring, with onions that is, because that's how I like it at its best. And I must say it tasted really good. In terms of food, that was certainly not the only thing that was offered to us. Throughout the garden there were delicious stalls with BBQ on the Ofyr, tuna from the grill, Kosher sushi and fantastic salads and fruit skewers, everything had been thought of.
