I don't cheat.. I treat! The first month of the year is now far behind us. We survived 'dry January' (can you call it that?), we now have a curfew, the children can go back to school. And we have already been able to enjoy a heavy snowfall. In short, time flies. And now that we're having such a good time, it's nice to give yourself a healthy "treat" every now and then. As a bonus to this blog, also the recipe for “A healthy treat banana bread”.
January
In January I indicated that I wanted to focus more on my lifestyle. I wanted to tighten the belt a bit again to make myself feel better in my own skin. When I look back at the past few weeks, I see that my weight is almost back to the point where I am almost happy again when I'm on the scale. Fortunately, I have also noticed that I no longer have the great urge to sniff all day long. And I don't have an urgent need for sugar anymore. That mission has also been accomplished. The part 'I explode with energy' is less successful.
The perfectionist in me
Whether it's due to the fact that we've been sitting with a full house for quite some time, while working from home, I don't know. In any case, I have noticed that these weeks have taken a lot out of it. Perhaps it's all logical and explainable because yes, 'you have to do so much at once', but it doesn't make it any more pleasant and doesn't solve anything in my head either. I personally find it very difficult not to be able to do things 100% right. What I do, I want to do well.
All balls in the air
At the moment that you have to keep as many balls in the air as we have been asked to do in recent months, it probably makes sense that it costs a lot of energy in the long run. Still, I find it irritating to let go of my demands. Because it's busy, is it suddenly okay not to throw your towel in the laundry basket? Or because it's busy, it's okay to drop a stitch at work? No, I'm not like that.
Treatday, a healthy treat banana bread!
What I have tried is to structurally plan a "treat" for ourselves. That treat was often not even something that belongs outside my lifestyle. But just something we really like. AND……at the moment I write this Valentine's weekend is just around the corner and with it a lot of treats. This weekend all my rules are going out the door. We have ordered dinner, the children are going to stay and we are husband and wife for a while.
Why treat and not cheat:
I also speak very consciously about treat, and not cheat. Cheat has a negative charge. Like you're doing something you shouldn't. Like you have to do it secretly. Of course, there is also a very high chance that you will also feel bad afterwards. Why would you want to deprive yourself of that moment, which you apparently had a lot of fun in, and make something negative of it?
To choose consciously
Not only do I consciously choose to use the word treat, but I also choose the treat very consciously. I choose something I really like. This is how we ordered dinner at our favorite restaurant this weekend! I know I'm going to eat delicious. I know that carbohydrates are added to this and I know that sugars are used in that. But it is a choice. I'm going to enjoy it. I'm not going to do it secretly. I will consciously enjoy all the goodies. I'm not going to spit. I'm not going to sniff. I only have a treat and therefore no cheat.
So away with that cheat day!
cheat day? So I don't do that. I consciously choose what I want to enjoy and when I want to enjoy it. I choose good food. Food that I really enjoy. Food that won't make me feel guilty. By that I don't mean that you can't opt for fries. If fries are what you feel like, then choose fries. What I mean is the guilt of choosing food because you just wanted to eat something random. Food that you actually didn't even really enjoy. That guilt. We all need a little pampering. It is also good to just plan this. What would you choose? banana bread recipe
And now the bonus: a healthy treat banana bread
It's really a hype, but sometimes I think it's a really nice way to eat something cakerig or bready (I know, it's not words). Banana bread is often still made on the basis of flour. And I'm not always fond of almond flour myself. That is why I went into the kitchen to get started with yet another version of banana bread. We choose chickpea flour this time! banana bread recipe
Here you will find the complete recipe with all the ingredients you need. I hope you have fun preparing the dish below.

Try it soon. Never really eaten.
Just do it once then!
I'll definitely give it a try. But tomorrow I would like to bake without having to go to the supermarket. What could I replace the chickpea flour with and what proportions? Do I have spelled wholemeal flour, wholemeal flour and buckwheat flour at home?
You could basically use any flour. Personally I think buckwheat is too strong, then I would go for spelled. I'm curious! Will you let me know how he succeeded?
