Throw your jar of hazelnut spread in the bin right away? No, that is not necessary, because this recipe is not a replacement for it. But it is a nice protein-rich addition to your spreads for bread, crackers, or whatever you spread paste on! It is certainly a very easy version to make yourself because you only need very little for it. This protein-rich chickpea chocolate spread is, in my opinion, just a nice alternative for people who consciously choose less pre-processed products from the supermarket. No crazy E numbers are used, no colorants, little sugar, and the result speaks for itself!

High Protein Chickpea Chocolate Spread
Chickpeas are rich in protein, just by themselves as a natural source. A vegetable source. I add some extra whey powder to this recipe. This increases the amount of protein without increasing the kcal very much. If you are not at all concerned with that, then it does not matter to you not to add it if you do not have it at home, for example.
Extra nutri info: 1 tablespoon of this spread contains: 3,7 grams of carbohydrates, 2,5 grams of protein, and 2,1 grams of fat. Total is 47kcal.
1 tablespoon of Nutella contains: 11,5 grams of carbohydrates, 1,3 grams of protein, and 6,2 grams of fat, total is 108 kcal.
And there you have it… every pound goes through the mouth! A nice thick layer of your favorite chocolate spread really adds up.

And this is how you make it:
- Drain the chickpeas in a colander, but make sure to save the liquid!
- Move the chickpeas around in the colander so that the skins loosen and remove them. (It doesn't matter if a few still have a skin).
