For the Francine Bij section I traveled to the sunny south of the country where I visited a supplier of tableware. Francine at Orca Cool crockery!

For years I have had a passion for tableware and china ware. Delft Blue plates and bowls, but also a complete set of tableware that we bought when we were just married. Beautifully colored bowls and I have the right glass for every kind of drink. When I'm shopping and I see a nice bowl or nice cup, it is simply added to an already bulging china cabinet.

With the start of this food blog it was immediately clear that the presentation of your food and the way you present your food to the world is extremely important! You can have made a recipe as delicious as it is, if it lies like a pathetic heap on an ugly plate, no one will feel like eating it or making it yourself. On instagram I came across Orca Cool's account and my attention was immediately drawn. What a beautiful porcelain item I saw passing by!

Almost at the destination it is clear that I am in the south. The rolling hills and unique architectural styles that Limburg has almost make me feel like I'm abroad. The welcome is very warm with a cup of tea and fresh Limburg flan that is already waiting for you!

The history of Orca Cool:

Marc and Sylvia's company has a long history. The company has been around since 1968. At that time it was still owned by Marc's parents and a household name in the south of the country. The company was known as JP van der Oord Koelingen en Winkelinrichting. At that time mainly specialized in refrigeration furniture and refrigerators for the catering industry and small shops where fresh products were sold. Remanufactured and new products are sold and they continue to do so to this day.

Nowadays it is mostly new refrigerated furniture. Many years later, the company is ready for a somewhat fresher look and name. During a cinema visit by Marc with his then girlfriend, he comes up with the unique name "Orca Cool", this is based on the extremely popular film of that moment: "Free Willy", an orca that manages to get its freedom with a huge jump. over a stone pier and then swims to his freedom. The name is a very appropriate name given the 'refrigeration products' that the company sells!

The start of porcelain sales:

A buyer of refrigerators asked Marc if he also happened to have crockery for the catering industry and the start was there. The sale of china ware actually started with just one white plate. The more than 300 square meters showroom was full of cooling devices and there was actually no room at all for a nice display with the crockery. But the customer kept insisting on wanting to see and view, so a small scaffolding was placed. Over the years, this scaffolding has continued to grow and grow.

After a water pipe bursts and enormous water damage occurs in the company, Sylvia has to make a thorough renovation. Sylvia has a vision for all her beautiful tableware and how she wants it displayed. With her background as a window dresser and hobby chef, she knows which products should be displayed.

She also knows how to make the most of them. She is fully involved in the styling of the showroom and is always looking for the latest trends and the most beautiful products at trade fairs.

Sylvia's passion for beautiful crockery also stems from a passion for cooking. She wants to present the dishes in the best possible way. Like many foodie husbands, Marc usually eats his food lukewarm because of course a picture of the dish has to be taken first! Very recognizable according to my husband.

Orca Cool has two branches of sport with tableware. They supply tableware for the catering industry and professional kitchen, but also for consumers at home. Complete sets are available for both types of customer. Everything is possible, from cutlery to cup and saucer and plates and bowls in all shapes and sizes. A number of collections are delivered exclusively to restaurants and are not available to consumers. However, with her enormous knowledge and eye for detail, Sylvia always has a suitable alternative. So I walked through the showroom with a sigh of relief and quietly looked at all the beautiful things.

The good thing is that Sylvia and Marc take all the time for you. They help you find what you are looking for. The chance that they do not have something in the house is very small! Of course I didn't leave without taking something with me and it now looks great in my china cabinet! You will surely come across it soon in one of the many photos on my social and website.
