Sometimes you just feel like having a tasty snack, right? This minced meat roll with caramelized onion is quite easy to make. The advantage is that you can store it for a day and then quickly bake it in the oven. But it also tastes great cold. Ideal as a tasty snack for a party. I seasoned the minced meat fine spice mix of my regular supplier! Braiding the puff pastry naturally takes a little more time than simply folding it, but it does look a little more festive, right?
Meat roll with caramelized onion
In principle, I always have all the ingredients for this minced meat roll with caramelized onion at home. And I think you probably do too, minced meat from the freezer, puff pastry, onion and parsley and some other herbs and spices. So you can see that it is really not complicated to make a delicious snack. I sprinkled some “bagel spice mix” on the puff pastry and that also gives a nice festive effect.
Divide the minced meat over the middle of a sheet of puff pastry and make incisions on the left and right. You fold this over the minced meat and onion and thus “braid” the roll closed. Then brush it with some egg and sprinkle some spice mix on it and bake!
Here you will find the complete recipe with all the ingredients you need. I hope you enjoy preparing the dish below. Delicious Happen!

And this is how you make it:
- In a bowl, mix the minced meat with the minced spice mix, the egg, the breadcrumbs and the parsley.
- Fry the onions in a frying pan with a tablespoon of butter and a tablespoon of oil. Caramelization takes a while, just let it simmer over a low heat and stir occasionally. Deglaze almost at the end with the balsamic vinegar.
- Defrost the sheets of puff pastry, leaving about 1/3 of the pastry open in the middle. Cut the other two sides from top to bottom.
- First place a layer of minced meat in the center of the puff pastry and spoon some caramelized onion on top. Now fold the strips of puff pastry upside down. Brush with some beaten egg and sprinkle with some bagel herbs.
- Bake in an oven at 25 degrees for about 200 minutes, until they are nice and golden brown. Then let it cool down for a while.
- Delicious bites!
