If I had to guess, I think that on average 95 percent of most recipes start with garlic and onion. “Chop the garlic and onion…” and then that smell in your kitchen! However, garlic can be just a little too sharp for some people. I have a handy trick for that: roasting! Make a delicious garlic sauce. garlic herb dip

If you roast the garlic in the oven, it will lose its pungent taste. The cloves will "shrivel" a little in their skins and a soft puree will be hidden in them. You just have to squeeze or push it out with a knife. Perfect for this roasted garlic herb dip!

This dip is not only delicious as a snack, but can also be used as a sauce for other dishes. For example, you can make a delicious tortilla with it. Spread a tortilla with the puffed garlic-herb dip and top it up with your favorite ingredients, such as cheese, vegetables, meat or fish. Roll up the tortilla and bake it briefly in the oven or in a frying pan. This way you have an easy and tasty meal!

But you can also use this dip as a meat sauce at a BBQ. It goes well with grilled chicken, pork or beef. You can also put the dip in a pita bread, along with some lettuce, tomato and fried chicken. That's a nice lunch or snack!

This is a nice basic recipe that you can further expand to your own taste. For example, add a pepper for some spice, or ras-el-hanout for a Mediterranean touch. You can also use other herbs, such as chives, parsley, or basil. Experiment and discover your own favorite garlic sauce combination!

Ingredients:

  • 1 bowl Garlic
  • 125 ml sour cream
  • 4 el mayonnaise
  • 10 leaves fresh mint
  • 4 twigs Parsley
  • salt
  • peper

Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.

And this is how you make it:

  • Preheat your oven to 200 degrees.
  • Wrap 1 whole bulb of garlic with aluminum foil and place it in the oven for 40 minutes.
  • Finely chop the parsley and mint and mix in a bowl with the mayo, sour cream, a little salt and pepper.
  • Remove the garlic from the oven and remove the aluminum foil. Remove 2 cloves from the bulb and (when it has cooled slightly) push the garlic out of the skin. The garlic is completely soft like a kind of puree, and add this to the bowl. Mix well and then your dip is ready.
  • Delicious bites!
You can squeeze the remaining cloves and store the garlic puree in a jar in the fridge. Use it for a sauce, or spread it on a bruschetta.
