You need:

oven (large 60 cm)
meat thermometer (included)
roasting pan 40 cm

Ingredients:

Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.

And this is how you make it:

  • Make sure the turkey is completely thawed and remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before using. Pat it dry with some kitchen paper.
  • Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. Remove the rack from the oven. Place the roasting pan at the bottom of the oven that will collect the fat. So it must be the same size as the turkey.
  • Brush the whole turkey with butter and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Massage it all in well.
  • Remove the black protective sleeve from the thermometer. This will stay in the turkey in the oven during the baking.
  • Place your turkey on the grill and insert the gauge between the leg and the breast. This measures the core temperature of the turkey.
  • Place the turkey in the oven. After 20 minutes, lower the temperature to 120 degrees. Open the door of your oven for a while so that the worst of the heat dissipates from the oven. (This makes the oven faster 120 gr) Then close the door again.
  • Now it has to cook for about 2½ hours. You will soon see from the core temperature whether and when your turkey is cooked exactly. It must be 70 degrees.
Check after an hour at 120 degrees how it is, and immediately brush the turkey with the fat from the roasting pan.
Is it getting very brown on the outside already? Then put a piece of aluminum foil on top so it doesn't burn.
  • So after 2½ hours he should be at 70 degrees, prick the side and one leg of the turkey with a skewer. If the juice comes out clear, then it is cooked.
  • Is he not up to temperature? Then stay nearby and check every 5 minutes. Then take it out of the oven and cover with aluminum foil and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • Cut the legs off and the rest into nice thin slices.
Serve with a fine cranberry sauce, or a tasty red wine gravy.
