Yes, we go a little bit off the beaten track with this Gin Gimlet cocktail. Because officially according to the classic recipe, this cocktail only consists of Gin and lime syrup. This makes it quite sweet and you don't get such a nice foam layer with it. So we add egg white and some extra fresh lime juice. Shake it hard in your shaker and then pour. And then you get a very beautiful drink that is not only very tasty but also looks beautiful. Do choose organic unsprayed limes as we use some zest.
Gin Gimlet cocktail
The nice thing about this cocktail is that it is quite easy to customize. There is also a version with vodka. And the French version is made with elderflower syrup. Of course we add a nice slice of lime to the glass. All in all, this Gin Gimlet cocktail is not a complicated recipe, only squeezing the limes takes a bit of time.
You can also mix the gin and lime juice in advance, separate the egg white from the egg yolk and then store it in the refrigerator. Then, when your visitors arrive, all you have to do is put everything in your shaker, shake it and serve the glasses. Logically, the type of gin you choose also determines the taste of your cocktail. I just used the standard Bombay Gin (in the blue bottle).
Here you will find the complete recipe with all the ingredients you need. I hope you have fun preparing the cocktail below. Cheers!
