I love phyllo dough, nice and crispy and you can work with it fairly easily. With these snacks it doesn't matter if the dough tears a bit. We fold them into tasty packages that we fill with goat cheese, apple and hazelnut. A delicious combination! So they are both sweet and savory snacks in one. These hazelnut phyllo dough apple bites don't have to be in the oven for very long, so enjoy them quickly. A delicious filo pastry recipe

The brown sugar you see in the picture is coconut blossom sugar. This has a very typical taste that you immediately recognize. Very different from regular sugar, and when it melts it gets a kind of caramel-like taste. I love it and often use it when baking my granola.

When working with phyllo dough, it's important to make sure it doesn't dry out. To avoid this, you can use a damp and clean tea towel while working with the dough. Place the tea towel on top of the phyllo sheets you are not working on at the moment. Doing this will keep the phyllo dough moist and easy to work with.

Once you have filled the phyllo dough, you can choose to bake it in the oven or fry it in oil. If you choose the frying option, you will get a similar result to samosas. It just depends on what you prefer. Anyway, with these tips you can easily make delicious dishes with phyllo dough.

You need:

kitchen brush

Ingredients:

  • 5 sheets phyllo dough - ( 1 pack )
  • 1 call - peeled and cut into small cubes
  • 100 gram soft goat cheese
  • 1 tl coconut blossom sugar
  • 75 gram hazelnuts - chopped
  • ½ tl cinnamon powder
  • 25 gram butter - molten

Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.

And this is how you make it:

  • Defrost the filo pastry and carefully unfold. Place a damp tea towel on top of the pile of leaves you are not using.
  • Peel the apple and cut into small cubes. Chop the hazelnuts and put some chopped nuts aside. Put the nuts, apple and goat cheese in a bowl and mix in the cinnamon and coconut blossom sugar.
  • Cut 1 sheet of phyllo dough into three equal strips, along the length of the sheet.
  • Brush the bars with some melted butter.
  • Place a teaspoon of apple mix on the end of a sheet and fold into a triangle. Turn the triangle over again and repeat until you reach the end of the sheet. If necessary, spread some extra butter on top to "seal" it.
  • Repeat with all your sheets of phyllo dough and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
  • Spread the top of the bites with a little more butter and sprinkle with the chopped hazelnuts and a little coconut blossom sugar. Bake them nicely golden brown in a 10 to 13 minutes in the oven.
  • Delicious bites!
