Nogatientjes: Make the tastiest caramel cookies
I love talking to foodies and exchanging recipes together. These passionate people all have a preference for good food and beautiful products. In this section I visit them and they prepare their favorite recipe for me. Then I share this recipe with you! This way I get in touch with the most inspiring foodies in the Netherlands, and you can take a look at their website for even more great and tasty recipes. In this edition I review Debsbakery's favorite recipe, called “Nogatientjes”, or caramel cookies.
The caramel cookie recipe, Nogatientjes, Debsbakery's favorite recipe

And this is how you make it:
- First take a saucepan and add the water and granulated sugar. Bring this to the boil and then let it simmer for a while until it has a nice brown caramel color. Be careful not to let it get too dark or the caramel will become bitter.
-Place a sheet of baking paper on the counter and pour the beautiful brown caramel on it and let the caramel cool completely. Don't touch your fingers it's sweltering hot!
Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 160 degrees.
-Take a bowl and add the butter for the caramel biscuits, the brown sugar, the vanilla sugar and the salt and stir until creamy. If you have a food processor, now is the time to put it to work, otherwise just use your muscles.
-Then add the two tablespoons of milk and fold in the sifted flour. Mix this well.
-Now take the cured caramel and put it in a plastic bag, beat and roll the caramel into very small pieces. Then add these small pieces to the dough and knead it well again.
- Grab a baking tray and put a sheet of baking paper on it for the caramel cookies. Roll the dough into walnut-sized balls with your hands and place on the baking paper. Flatten them a bit and place them far enough apart because they will get much bigger in the oven later.

- Finally put the baking tray in the oven for about 14-15 minutes and bake the cookies. Quickly remove them from the baking sheet and let them cool further on a wire rack.
