Homemade pear jam

Homemade pear jam with cinnamon

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

It's time to harvest the pears again. Here in the region there are many pear orchards and they pick from early to late! Large wooden boxes in which hundreds of kilos of pears disappear. There is also a pear tree in our garden. The nice thing about this is that we do not spray our pears, so you can really speak of an organic pear. No pesticides, just pure nature! This year I again make homemade pear jam. Quick start, let's make pear jam!

This is delicious with a cheese board. You can also make jam and spread it on your sandwich. Of course it is super simple to do this.

-The next day, remove the bowl from the fridge and pour everything into a large saucepan. Bring everything to a boil. The cooking time of 4 minutes starts from the moment the mass boils. Stir it occasionally gently, the mass should continue to bubble.

-When the 4 minutes are up, you can scoop away any foam that remains on the mass. Take the jars and fill them carefully with the hot mass. Fill the jars to the brim and then screw on the lid. Turn the jar upside down and let it stand for 5 minutes. Then turn them back and store them in a cool and dark place.

-The homemade pear jam has a shelf life of one year, provided it remains unopened. If you have opened the jar, it has a limited shelf life in the refrigerator.

  1. Yes, you can by using jelly sugar, you need less of it than granulated sugar. But you can't make jam without sugar… For jelly sugar you need 1250 grams of fruit and 500 grams of jelly sugar, so slightly less sweet. The sugar ensures that it has shelf life and firmness, otherwise it is a gunk that you can't do much with, and that has hardly any shelf life.
Look in the supermarket, they sell the 2 different types of sugar with which you can make the jam or jelly.
