The carrot is a vegetable that has many health benefits and can be prepared in many different ways. You can bake sweet cakes, make soups, mash them or just eat them raw: the possibilities are endless. The carrot also has a long history behind it. It originates from Iran and was spread throughout Europe in the 17th century by the VOC, who brought it to the Netherlands. Moreover, the carrot not only exists in orange, but also in other colors such as purple, yellow and white. In this recipe we show you how to make delicious honey grilled carrots with cumin cheese and bacon in the oven. This is a simple preparation method that gives a lot of flavor to the vegetables.
Here's how to make honey-grilled carrots with cumin cheese and bacon:
We start with the roots. Clean them and scrape the skin off. I always use a peeler for that, nice and easy and fast.
Preheat your oven to 200 degrees.
Cut the bacon into small cubes and sprinkle a tablespoon of Moroccan herbs on top. Then fry the cubes in a frying pan until crispy. Don't bake it all the way through, that's not necessary.
Take an oven dish and put the cleaned carrots in it. Pour over a little olive oil and a tablespoon or 2 of honey. Rub in the roots with a brush or your fingers so that there is a layer around everything. Then sprinkle them with sea salt and pepper and put in the oven for half an hour.

Grate or cut the cumin cheese into cubes and shred a few leaves with mint.
Grab a bowl and place the grilled carrots on it. Sprinkle with the cheese and spoon the bacon cubes on top. Garnish with the pomegranate seeds and mint. Serve with a nice fresh green salad: Delicious Happen!
Variation
If you're not a fan of cumin cheese, you can also use another cheese that tastes good with the carrots. Parmesan cheese or Pecorino, for example, are good alternatives.
Don't have a Moroccan spice mix in your kitchen cupboard? No problem, you can also use other herbs that go with the honey and cheese. Italian or Provencal herbs are also delicious with this dish.
