Chicken the most versatile piece of meat…. bet that song from that slogan is in your head now! Nice, things like that just stay with you. But it's true, because you can cook chicken in really so many ways with different parts of the chicken like in this recipe for ” chicken thigh in Mushroom cream sauce . A delicious recipe of chicken thighs in a creamy sauce.

“The “steak” of the chicken is surely the chicken thigh. Delicious with a fat edge and also very easy to prepare with the bone in it. Yet there are many more fillets on the shelves, or at the butcher's, than the thigh. While those fillets dry out quite easily during baking, in contrast to the thigh, which remains nice and juicy and tender.

Anyway, try making this chicken thigh in mushroom cream sauce and then tell me what you think, I'm sure you'll leave a positive comment below the recipe! Let's get started with this recipe for chicken thighs in creamy sauce.

Take a nice large frying pan so that everything fits well in it.

Chicken thigh in mushroom cream sauce

Eating meat, such as the chicken in this recipe, is increasingly discussed in our society. There are many disadvantages associated with meat production and consumption. Not only is it bad for the environment, due to nitrogen emissions from farmers and deforestation for livestock farming, but also for animal welfare, due to poor living conditions and the mass slaughter of animals.

I am a meat eater myself and I can enjoy this one chicken thigh in mushroom cream sauce and that won't change any time soon. You can make more conscious choices. Where do you buy your meat, how much do you eat it, do you choose organic and which pieces of meat do you eat?

Fry the chicken on both sides until golden brown, this time I chose chicken thigh with the bone still in it, but you can also use chicken thigh fillets.

As described above, we don't actually eat that much chicken thigh, but we usually opt for the fillets or legs. That's a shame, because chicken thigh is much more tender and juicy than other parts of the chicken. As far as I'm concerned, we buy all the parts, because they make the tastiest dishes, such as this chicken thigh in mushroom cream sauce.

This is truly a fantastic recipe that you are guaranteed to have on the table in no time. Of course, it is good to consciously consider the frequency of eating chicken for both personal health reasons and environmental considerations. But every now and then it's just wonderful to enjoy a tasty piece of chicken such as chicken thighs in a creamy sauce.

We make this recipe with Parmesan cheese. Parmesan cheese, also known as Parmesan reggiano. This is an Italian hard cheese made from raw cow's milk. The cheese is made in the Emilia-Romagna region and is known for its nutty taste. The cheese is used in recipes for pasta, risotto, salad. You can also bake it as a Parmesan cheese topping. It is usually grated over dishes such as pizza, pasta and lasagna and of course also in this recipe chicken thigh in Mushroom cream sauce

And this is how you make it:

  • Meanwhile, slice the mushrooms and squeeze the garlic cloves.
  • Heat a large frying pan and add a splash of olive oil. Fry the chicken thighs on both sides until golden brown. (this means done! so that takes about 15 minutes on medium heat) Then remove them from the pan and put them aside on a plate.
  • Add the mushrooms and garlic to the pan and cook until they start to soften.
  • Add the cooking cream and stir it all, then the Parmesan cheese and let it melt completely, the sauce will thicken a bit and look really nice and creamy.
  • Return the chicken thighs to the pan and let them warm in the sauce. Finish with the freshly chopped parsley and serve.
  • Delicious bites!
You can serve pasta with it, but rice is also a tasty option.

    1. Hi Carla, in this case the spice mix. (I developed 1 myself, it is for sale at Van Beekum online), but you can also make my own mix! Search my site for persillade and you will find a blog about it. Good luck with cooking, this is a winner, gr Francine

Very tasty recipe. I used 1 kilo of chicken thighs and some fresh thyme without substantially changing the recipe. For the "color" I did add carrot and frozen peas. Everything went up in one go! Thank you

How long should the chicken continue to cook in the sauce? (When I read the recipe I get the impression that the chicken is still raw inside)

    1. Hi, no logically the chicken is done before it goes into the sauce to stew in it a little longer! Eating raw chicken is dangerous. Cook the chicken over a moderate heat for 10 minutes per side. Otherwise, check it by slicing the meat. Chicken thigh is not very thick meat so it does not take very long to cook. Stewing in the sauce ensures that it is at least 100% cooked. Gr Francine

    1. Hi, I have no idea, I don't calculate that, and I never actually look at it, but it is certainly not a light meal because of the amount of cream it contains. Gr Francine

Seems very tasteful to me, how long do you box those chicken thighs.
A whole lemon with a kilo of chicken thighs doesn't make it very sour.

    Sincerely, Annemiek

    1. Hi Annemiek, that differs per person, I am a fan of sour, but if you are not, add the juice of half a lemon. Start with that and see how you like it. Gr Francine

Looks delicious and be sure to save it to my Pinterest to give it a try soon.
But I do have a question for you….
You write; Fry the chicken thighs on both sides until golden brown
But I assume you didn't eat it raw.
Can you tell me how and how long you bake this or that you let it simmer in the sauce?

    1. Hi Corry, no logically I don't eat raw chicken. The chicken is fried for about 10 minutes per side. Not on too high a heat, of course, otherwise it will burn. Then let the chicken stew in the sauce for another 10 minutes or so. All in all, enough not to eat raw chicken. If you are not sure, cut open a piece of chicken with a knife and check the doneness before you let it stew in the sauce. Enjoy your dinner! Greetings Francine.

  5. Very tasty and easy to make. And it looked very nice! For the persillade I took the snail herbs at the Jumbo. Those are exactly the same.

It looks delicious and will be on the menu soon. I did not see cooking cream with 35% fat in the supermarket, but fresh cream. Do I get the same effect or do I have to look further? And it says "scoop the chicken out of the pan". If you use chicken thigh fillet, quite a lot of fat will be released from cooking. Do I leave the fat in the pan or do I drain it with the chicken so that there is no more moisture in the pan? Thanks in advance!

Ooooh this looks tasty. I'm going to make it now and I made a mix of that persillade myself and secretly mixed some chives through it. And didn't have that many mushrooms in the house, so let dried mushrooms soak and then just add that. And I'm secretly going to add some Madeira. You're going to hear from me….the water is already running in my mouth… on to the kitchen!. Oops and mixed pecorini with parmesan because didn't have enough parmesan.

Was delicious, I'm going to save this… but with fresh mushrooms and not dried ones like I just used. Thank you for the recipe.

    Very nice result!! Thank you.
Made the persillade myself, whipped cream instead of cooking cream added (35% fat)
    . Eaten with rice.
Pan went completely empty here :-))
Next time I will fry rice with small pieces of bell pepper and onion and serve it on the side.
