Possibly one of the oldest cocktails in existence, this recipe Classic Cuba libre cocktail! The title already betrays where he comes from, namely Cuba. Born in a pub in Havana during the Spanish American War as the legend goes. With only three ingredients, it is also a very simple one to make. Lime juice, cola and rum. Since rum on these types of islands is often almost cheaper than water, not so surprising. There are also sweet versions where pineapple juice is added.

Incidentally, due to the quarrel with America, the Cubans themselves had to serve this cocktail without real cola for years. Importing from America was prohibited. You can also easily serve this cocktail as a virgin. Then take an alcohol-free rum and use cola zero, then it is almost also a healthy drink! Of course you can vary with this cocktail, there is also a version with Cointreau for example.
The classic Cuba libre cocktail, which consists of rum and cola, also has a Dutch version, namely the Baco! This name is derived from the Bacardi brand, which originally comes from Cuba. Due to the Cuban revolution, this business was also continued outside Cuba.
This mix is quite simple, all you need is Bacardi and cola. I personally find the addition of lime juice very tasty and refreshing. It gives the cocktail a fresh and sour taste. And as with all drinks: enjoy but drink in moderation!
Here you will find the complete recipe with all the ingredients you need. I hope you have fun preparing the dish below.
