Let's go way back in time! Think centuries even, because this drink dates back to around 1884. The Old Fashioned was then created and described for the first time. This version of a spicy Old Fashioned cocktail is a nice variation. We are heading towards autumn and so all herbs and spices are coming into their own. Such as star anise and cinnamon, unmistakably appropriate for this time of year. And also popular spices in cocktails. A recipe for the cocktail whiskey old fashioned.
Spicy Old Fashioned cocktail
We make a syrup of sugar, honey, star anise, cinnamon and thyme. This is quite easy and you can also easily store it in a bottle in the fridge. You can use this syrup for various autumn cocktails.
In this recipe we pour sparkling water with the drink, I always use Spa for this. It is also available in plenty of flavours. So if you want to add some extras, choose a flavor. As far as the Whiskey is concerned, you can just choose a nice Whiskey in my opinion.
Certainly not those of 25 years or older, that is not necessary. In America, this drink is made with Bourbon. That is American Whiskey made with mainly corn and less barley. This also makes it a lot sweeter.
Here you will find the complete recipe with all the ingredients you need. I hope you have fun preparing the dish below.
