Spicy? Yes, you have heard me say many times that I am not a big fan of spicy food. But every now and then I try it, especially if a recipe can take it. And maybe I'm starting to get used to it a bit, who knows. With a dip like this deliciously spicy pumpkin hummus, he can handle that just fine. Incidentally, also childishly easy to make, and while making it I realized that I do that far too little. Nowadays you can buy so many different flavors and brands of hummus in the supermarket that we put our imagination on hold. Which is an eternal shame, because that's what I love about coming up with recipes. It's fun to express your creativity in it, and to test and try flavors.

The origin of the chickpea can be found in ancient Anatolia. Or small Asia that occupies part of Turkey. The area itself is not exactly small with more than 756.000 square kilometers. Stretching from the Aegean Sea to the Sea of Marmara, and the Black Sea. The peas have been cultivated for more than 8000 years and from here they are spread over India, Morocco, Iran and even Australia.
Chickpeas thrive and grow best in tropical climates, with June and July being their peak months. The Levant region, known for its vegetarian cuisine, makes chickpeas a popular meat substitute. These legumes are not only high in protein, but also provide fiber and minerals, making them a valuable addition to any diet. From salads to soups, stews, and even hummus, the versatility of chickpeas makes it easy to enjoy both their flavor and nutritional benefits!
