Easy Pear tarte tatin

Easy pear tarte tatin with pears from our own garden.

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

We have a pear tree in the garden. A small one that we have had for a few years now, but which produces a huge number of pears every year. It is therefore also “on the go” when they can be picked. Jam, jam, or just out of the box and also this recipe: easy pears tarte tatin puff pastry.

The original tarte tatin is, of course, made with apples, and this is a variation on it. You can use puff pastry for it, but I like this dough a lot better. Serve the cake lukewarm so it is at its best. This year the pear tree was top-heavy and with a strong breeze in the night we woke up to a fallen tree. So let's get started because all the pears had fallen out and had to be processed!

And this is how you make the easy Pear tarte tatin:

- Preheat the oven to 220 degrees

-Now we are going to make the dough: Mix the 100 grams of butter, 100 grams of sugar, and the salt with a kitchen mixer until smooth. Then add the flour and eggs and mix well until you have a nice dough ball. Wrap some cling film and put it in the fridge.

-Now peel the the kickersI selected pears of the same size so you can arrange them in a nice round in your baking tin. If you have different lengths and thicknesses, it will be a messy cake. Cut the pears through the middle and remove the core.

-Then take a pan and melt the 50 grams of butter in it, pour the melted butter into the baking tin. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar on top. (Cinnamon sugar is made by adding 2 tablespoons of cinnamon to the granulated sugar). Mix this well so that you have a brown mass on the bottom of your baking pan.

-Then place the pears with the convex side on the cinnamon sugar.

- Now take the dough from the fridge and roll it out into a nice round slab. Sprinkle flour on your work surface so that it does not stick.

- Finally, place the slice of dough over the pears and tuck them in nicely.

Now put the cake in the oven for about 25 minutes until it is golden brown, then take it out and let it cool for a while.

You do this so that the cinnamon sugar that is now caramel-like can solidify a bit. Grab a plate or bowl that is larger than your baking pan and tip it over.
