Greek feta marinated with fresh herbs

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Sometimes it is convenient for man. I understand that because not everyone is a fan of cooking. You grab a block of feta cheese in the supermarket, or a jar of salad cubes. Unfortunately, many of these products are not real Greek feta at all. There are rules attached to this and you can see it by the quality mark. It doesn't really help the taste either. You should just jokingly try and put these two side by side. You can easily make such a pot of Greek feta marinated with fresh herbs.

Greek cheese
Delicious with fresh herbs and garlic. Let it marinate for a few hours.

You give it your own twist with the herbs and spices. Let it marinate well in the fridge for a day. And then you have a piece of cheese that really has taste!

Greek feta
Delicious with a serving board and of course in a Greek salad.

Feta marinated with fresh herbs

So let's talk about that Greek feta. This cheese belongs to the white cheese family. It is made from sheep's milk and sometimes supplemented with goat's milk. Feta has now been given a protected designation of origin. This is because many companies made feta cheese, which this was not at all. As a foodie I can only applaud that. This preserves the true recipe.

Of course my favorite herb parsley cannot be missed.

And when you buy it, you also know for sure that you support the farmers in the area where it is made. So in this recipe marinated Greek feta with fresh herbs, we opt for fresh herbs. When you cut the leaves, they give off their flavor to the olive oil. Oh and one more tip: use real Greek olive oil right away!

You need:

  • 2 Feta - blocks greek
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 fresh parsley sprigs
  • 6 fresh basil leaves
  • 10 fresh celery leaves
  • peper
  • Greek olive oil

Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.

And this is how you make it:

  • Finely chop all fresh herbs. Cut the garlic cloves into slices.
  • Cut the blocks of feta into cubes and sprinkle with a little freshly ground pepper.
  • Add everything to your preserving jar or glass jar and top it off with the Greek olive oil. Do not add salt because the cheese is so salty.
  • Let the jar marinate in the refrigerator for at least one night.
  • Delicious bites!
Vary with the herbs, also take thyme or marjoram. Serve as a snack or use it with a tasty Greek salad.
