The Big Easy, that's the nickname of the city of New Orleans. Located in the south of America, in the state of Louisiana. Cradle of gospel and slave music and a mix of inhabitants. Carnival is celebrated here every year. You may know it as Mardi Gras. The New Orleans muffuletta sandwich is a sandwich with Italian roots. Italian immigrants from Sicily took their round Sicilian sesame bread recipes and made their own version of it. This Muffuletta sandwich is made with an olive salad. Part of this is the Chicago style Giardiniera that we have already made. muffuletta sandwich recipe

This muffuletta recipe is made separately from the Giardiniera! You can also make the olive salad in a larger quantity. This tastes great with your lunch or as a side dish with your meal. After this muffuletta sandwich you won't be very hungry anymore. It really is quite a filling sandwich! As you can read in the recipe, I made this New Orleans muffuletta sandwich with Italian buns.
By the way, you could also use a large round Turkish bread for it. Or, of course, bake the Muffuletta bread yourself. Then you are on the road a little longer by letting the dough rise. So I prefer something easier to bake off bread.
