During my search on the internet I came across an interesting French recipe in which chestnut flour was used. After some research I discovered that it is not so easy to obtain in the Netherlands, unless you go to an organic supermarket or eko store. Fortunately, the internet offered the solution and I was able to order the flour online. Unfortunately it wasn't cheap, but that aside. I baked a nut cake with the chestnut flour. Since I made a large amount, I gave some of it away and the comments were positive. That's why I want to share the recipe with you. And this is how you make the chestnut flour nut tart:

-First put all the ingredients on your work surface and then grab a large bowl. Add the two types of flour and the cane sugar. Add the cubes of butter and knead well until the flour has absorbed all the butter. Then add the egg gels and the rum and knead it into a nice ball.

- Then take your oblong quiche form and put a baking paper in it. Roll out the dough into a long slab and put it in the mold. Make sure you have everything evenly distributed. Cover well with cling film and put it in the fridge for an hour.

Just before you take it out of the fridge, preheat the oven to 190 degrees.

-Put the mold in the oven and bake for 10 minutes. Then take it out of the oven and let it cool down for a while. Now raise the oven temperature to 200 degrees.

- Then take a bowl and put the eggs and caster sugar in it. Makes this all airy. Crush the nuts in a clean tea towel and add them to the sugar mix. Also add the melted butter and mix well.

-Let's bake the nut cake. Put the cake in the oven at 200 degrees for 10 minutes. After these 10 minutes, lower the temperature to 170 degrees and bake it for another 10 minutes.

Finally, when the cake is ready, remove it from the oven and let it cool briefly before removing it from the tin. Serve the cake lukewarm.

This pie is extremely rich and high in calories. This makes it unsuitable for people following a strict diet. Therefore, it is recommended to cut small pieces when you serve it. It is often the case that the eye is more hungry than the stomach can handle, and I can certainly confirm that from my own experience! So, to enjoy this delicious cake without feeling guilty, it is better to enjoy small portions.

Ingredients:

  • 100 gram spelled flour
  • 100 gram chestnut flour
  • 120 gram soft butter
  • 2 egg gels
  • 100 gram cane sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rum
