The Paasstol is an established piece of bread here in the Netherlands. Whether it's a big or a small clot, chances are that you will have one at home. And then spread with a little butter and some sugar on top. You may have even made a sandwich or French toast with it! The people at Crisp (shopping service) challenged me to come up with a surprising recipe with the Easter stollen. Well, I think it turned out pretty well with these Easter stol popsicles dipped in chocolate. We are going to get creative with different types of chocolate. It's not a complicated recipe at all, it just takes a little time. But then you have very tasty chocolate lollipops! chocolate recipe
Easter stollen popsicles dipped in chocolate
The tradition of the Easter stollen (and also the Christmas stollen) is centuries old. And as with a recipe it is adapted and prepared as it is possible at the time. The origin seems to lie in Germany. The archives in Dresden mention him as early as 1438. But as early as 1329, clotting has already been spoken and written about.
We can therefore speak of an age-old tradition that has basically not changed much. Almond paste in the middle of the bread, a lot of currants and raisins and slivered almonds on top of the bread. So I didn't change anything about the bread itself, I just gave it a nice chocolate coating. The bread inside stays nice and soft, and the jacket around it keeps it that way.
Here you will find the complete recipe with all the ingredients you need. I hope you have fun preparing the dish below.

Ingredients:
- 1 Easter stole
- 150 gram milk chocolate - (e.g. from Easter eggs)
- 100 gram White chocolate
Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.
And this is how you make it:
- We will first melt the milk chocolate au bain marie. You do this by hanging a bowl or bowl over a pan of almost boiling water. We do this so that the chocolate does not melt too quickly. This is especially important with white chocolate because it quickly becomes a kind of grainy. Certainly this chocolate should not be melted too hot.
- First melt the milk chocolate in a bain marie.
- Cut a few slices of Easter stollen into cubes. Then prick them on a wooden stick / skewer. Dip into the pan with the melted milk chocolate and drain well. ( I then put them in a glass as you can see in the photo )
- The piece of almond paste that is in your bread can be crushed a bit with your fingers and knead around 1 block and then dip in the chocolate. There is of course not enough food in a stollen to do this with every block.
- Place in the fridge and let the popsicles set.
- Then melt the white chocolate in a bain marie and remove the popsicles from the fridge. Use a spoon to "swipe" some stripes on the popsicles. Then they go back into the fridge one more time to stiffen and then they are ready to eat!
- Delicious bites!
