Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Today I have a delicious side dish for you: paupiettes de tartiflette. Tarti-watte I hear you say... This is a dish inspired by French cuisine. Tartiflette is a very classic dish from Haute-Savoie. A hearty meal based on potatoes, cheese and bacon. Very heavy food that you often make in the fall or winter. Recipe Paupiettes de Tartiflette

But you can serve these paupiettes super nice as a side dish with a nice fresh salad. And so you don't have to eat it in the fall, but just enjoy it in the summer. You know me: super easy to make, so get started!

Paupiettes de tartiflette: a French side dish

Paupiettes are actually rolls of thin meat that are filled with something tasty. I opted for turkey breast which I filled with potato slices, reblochon cheese and bacon strips. That's exactly what goes into a tartiflette too. You roll up the turkey fillet and secure it with a skewer. Then you fry it in a pan and let it continue to cook in the oven.

The paupiettes become wonderfully tender and juicy and the filling melts in your mouth. The cheese, bacon and potato give a lot of flavor and make the dish nice and creamy. You can serve it with a fresh salad to make it a bit lighter. Or you can eat some baguette to dip in the sauce.

Here you will find the complete recipe with all the ingredients you need. I hope you have fun preparing the dish below.

Ingredients:

  • 3 waxy potatoes
  • 3 to stick raclette cheese
  • 6 slices bacon
  • peper
  • salt
  • butter
  • olive oil

Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.

And this is how you make it:

  • First wash the potatoes and then put them in a pan. With zest and a pinch of salt. Boil the potatoes for 20 minutes. Drain and let them cool for a while, then you can easily peel off the skin. Cut them lengthwise through the middle with a sharp knife.
  • Then preheat your oven to 200 degrees.
  • Take a frying pan and add a dash of olive oil and a block of butter (I used 50 grams). Melt the butter in the oil. Carefully place the potato halves in the pan and fry on both sides for about 2 minutes. They should have a nice golden brown color. Then let them drain on kitchen paper.
  • Cut the slices of raclette in the middle and place on one half of the potatoes, then place two slices of bacon on top and cover with the other side of the potato. paupiettes de tartiflette
  • Take the twine and wrap it around the potato so that it stays firmly in place.
  • Place a sheet of baking paper on a baking tray and place the paupiettes on it. Place in the oven until the cheese starts to melt.
