In my experience I already had a lot of pumpkin soups on the site. But nothing is less true! And certainly not a spicy version. This spicy one ras el hanout pumpkin soup has only a few ingredients. This makes it super easy and quick to make. A nice choice in autumn and in the middle of the pumpkin season. The spiciness comes from the chili oil. Did you know that you can easily make these yourself? You take a good olive oil and heat it in a pan. Add dried chili peppers and garlic. Then you pour it into a bottle and let it sit for a few days. Making pumpkin soup spicy is easy!

Spicy ras el hanout pumpkin soup
The ras el hanout in this recipe comes from a tin can. You could make your own version if you ever feel like it. Please note that it often consists of more than twenty spices. But you can put your own spin on it. I showed you in this recipe that a pumpkinsoup making spicy is not art.

Just use a fine chili oil. I still have to be careful with spicy food. I can tolerate it quite well, but rather not too hot! By adding the whipped cream you also add some softness. The pumpkin becomes velvety soft. And it controls the spiciness a bit.

- 1 bottle gourd
- 1 white onion
- 4 tablespoons whipped cream
- 2 fresh thyme sprigs
- 1 cube of vegetable stock
From the pantry:
- 1 tablespoon ras el hanout
- chili oil
Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.
And this is how you make it:
- Peel the skin of the pumpkin with a vegetable peeler. Then cut it into pieces and remove the seeds.
- Chop the onion.
- Take a stockpot and add a dash of chili oil. Fry the onion and the ras el hanout in it. Then add the pumpkin cubes.
- Crumble the stock into the pan and top up with a liter of water. Let it cook for about twenty minutes until the pumpkin is nice and soft.
- Puree with your immersion blender until you have a nice smooth soup.
- Ladle the soup into the bowls and sprinkle in some fresh thyme leaves. Add a spoonful of whipped cream and add some chili oil.
