Heart of Tilburg

De L'Orangerie is located in the heart of Tilburg, with cozy terraces everywhere and flickering lights. Upon arrival I read on the board that we are going to eat in “the nicest living room of the Korte Heuvel”. And that turns out to be true when we enter. There is a pleasant buzz and the restaurant is full. That can only be a good sign! As for the living room atmosphere, that's absolutely right. Soft colours, nice wallpaper, beautiful wooden wall cabinets, just like a large living room. We are received very friendly and get a table in the back of the restaurant.

The dinner

When you have chosen this deal, you will receive a nice menu with all kinds of dishes from the French-Mediterranean kitchen. And let that be one of my favorite cuisines. There are actually no dishes on the menu that we don't like. And so we decide to choose both other dishes so that we can taste as much as possible. But first we get a nice sandwich with soft herb butter and a delicious amuse-bouche.

The starters

As a starter we choose the beef carpaccio and the tuna tartare (this has a surcharge of +3 euros). Especially the tuna has a super soft taste and really surprised us. But the dressing of sun-dried tomatoes with the carpaccio was also a very good choice by the chef.

The side dishes

The intermediate dishes are served and you certainly see the Burgundian aspect of this restaurant because they are certainly not small portions. We eat the cannelloni with rabbit and the tempura fried sole fillet. And also with this course we are served a nice wine.

The main courseRestaurant review of brasserie L'Orangerie

We both chose meat as main course. Duck breast and fillet steak (this also has a surcharge of +3 euros). I can be very brief about the meat: very well cooked! A really tender piece of meat. As a supplement you get delicious fries with mayo and apple compote. The only critical note I have with these dishes is that we both think the sauces are very sweet.

The dessertRestaurant review of brasserie L'Orangerie

We are actually quite full after all these dishes, but I tell the owner with a smile that we still manage to find a place for dessert. We are served nicely all evening and there is a friendly atmosphere. The friendly lady of the service asks me to walk to the "cheese market" where I buy four pieces cheese may choose. Plenty of choice from all kinds of tasty cheeses that are nicely displayed. The other dessert is the well-known “dame blanche” served with a warm chocolate sauce. After this we are really full and we go home again.
