Salad chevre chaud
Estimated reading time: 4 minutes
Why write a recipe for a salad that is quite simple and anyone can make their own? Because I would like to share with you a story about this salad chevre chaud that made us laugh out loud. This salad we ate was so bad that a good and tasty version on my site could not be missed. Salad with goat cheese.
It was in 2013 that we were on our annual holiday together with my best friend and her husband in Northern France. We visited the town of Laon and it was lunch time. We decided to have dinner at a small restaurant right next to the cathedral there. Three beers, one ice tea and four salad chevre chaud was the order. We had enough fun until the order was in front of us… A handful of wilted lettuce, 3 silly tomatoes and something that should resemble goat cheese on baguette was in front of us. We weren't laughing just yet...
We did when the bill came: over 100 euros! After we had paid nicely, we had to scream really hard outside the restaurant! The price was so ridiculous and the food so sub par that only happens to you on holiday. Fortunately I now speak good French so the next time we are presented with something like this I will certainly not hesitate to say something about it! salad with goat cheese and bacon
And this is how you make the Salade chevre chaud:
-Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. Then bake the bread for about 8 to 10 minutes. Take it out of the oven and cut it into nice coarse slices. Cut a few cloves of garlic through the center and spread over the bread.
-Take the goat's cheese and place it on the bread, you can optionally drizzle some honey over the cheese. Then put them in the oven under the grill and let them brown nicely. (note it goes fast so don't let it burn)
- Then cut the tomatoes through the middle, cut the onion into rings and fry the bacon crispy. You can then crumble it.
- Then take four plates and put the lettuce, the sliced onion and the ripe tomatoes on them. Sprinkle the crumbled bacon on top and top with the goat cheese toast.
-In an empty canning jar, put all the ingredients for the vinaigrette and shake it vigorously so that everything is well mixed.
Salad chevre chaud
To complete the dish, it's time to serve the salad. Place a generous portion of salad on a plate and make sure all ingredients are evenly distributed. Then it's time to add the vinaigrette.
The vinaigrette is the perfect finishing touch to this delicious salad. It provides a refreshing and spicy taste that goes perfectly with the different vegetables and toppings in the salad. Drizzle the vinaigrette evenly over the salad so that each bite has a nice balance between the different flavors.
Once ready to serve, you can serve the salad as a side dish to a main course or as a light and healthy lunch on its own. It is a versatile salad that you can customize to your liking by adding other vegetables or toppings. But one thing is certain, with the vinaigrette this salad is a real seasoning!
Here you will find the complete recipe with all the ingredients you need. I hope you have fun preparing the dish below.
