Low sugar breakfast with chai latte

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

Three for the price of one! That's another score, isn't it? A low-sugar breakfast with a chai latte recipe, a smoothie and a unicorn plant-based variation on cottage cheese bowl in one. It is of course completely outdated that low-sugar food is not tasty. This breakfast proves that once again. A nice recipe to let you enjoy a plant-based breakfast with fresh fruit. And those are the only natural sugars we will find. Whether you choose the smoothie, the bowl or the Chai latte, you have a colorful breakfast. The beautiful pink color in the bowl is achieved by the natural dye of pink pitaya.

In the recipe I use chia seeds. Chia seeds are small, brown or black seeds that come from the chia plant. They are rich in fiber, protein, omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Chia seeds are often used in healthy recipes, such as smoothies, yogurt, granola and pudding. They can also be soaked and used as a gel as an egg substitute in baking recipes.

My unique feature: the swirl effect in the smoothie.

Low sugar breakfast with chai latte

It was my first time making a chai latte recipe! I'm not that fond of coffee myself, so I only make it with the chai tea. This gives you a kind of super deluxe English tea with vegetable almond drink. My frothing device made a beautiful foam layer with this vegetable almond drink! Everyone knows that (too) much sugar is not good for you, and unseen you often get a lot of it every day. If you read the labels of your products you will be surprised how much that is.

The WHO recommends 50 grams per day for women and 60 grams per day for men. But on average we even eat 110 grams per day! I'd love to help you with a low-sugar breakfast with chai latte.

Here you will find the complete recipe with all the ingredients you need. I hope you have fun preparing the dish below.

Ingredients:

  • 250 gram vegetable variation on cottage cheese - from Alpro / no sugars
  • 1 Kiwi
  • 6 blueberries
  • 2 tl pink pitaya powder
  • 1 passion
  • 2 tl Chia seeds

For the "dirty chai latte" :

  • 150 ml almond drink - from Alpro / no sugars
  • 1 bag chai tea
  • 1 bag Chai spiced coffee
  • 1 tl cacao nibs

For the smoothie:

  • 1 box tropical fruit mix - from the freezer
  • 1 box summer fruit mix - from the freezer
  • 200 ml vegetable variation on cottage cheese - from Alpro / no sugars
  • 50 ml almond drink - from Alpro / no sugars

Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.

And this is how you make it:

  • For the breakfast bowl: Take your bowl and spoon the vegetable variation on cottage cheese in it. Mix with the pitaya powder and finish the bowl with the rest of the products.
  • For the Chai latte: boil 100 ml of water and let the bag of Chai tea steep for a minute or two. Shake the bag of spiced coffee with it (if you don't like coffee, skip that). In your milk frother, froth the almond drink and pour it with the tea. Garnish with the cocoa bibs.
  • For the smoothie: Sprinkle the contents of 1 box of frozen fruit in your blender and add 100 ml of water. Turn until you have a soft fruit mass. Pour into a bowl or glass. Repeat with the other box of fruit. Grab a glass. Mix the vegetable variation on quark with the almond drink in a bowl and scoop a layer in the glass. Place a layer of fruit on top, followed by another layer of vegetable variation on quark mix. Repeat until your glass is full. (You have too much fruit for 1 glass with this recipe, you can keep any leftovers in the fridge for 1 to 2 days for a few more smoothies.)
