Tadaa, there it is, the recipe for Jen's Surinamese noodles. After the workshop we all took home a delicious bowl. The idea was to photograph this nicely at home. So far that good idea, but when we got home we were so hungry that the box was heated and we ate everything! So of course we had to start cooking again because yes, I want to share this recipe of Jen's Surinamese noodles with you! You can read how much fun this workshop was here in this blog. And this is how you make the recipe Surinamese noodles
-Yes, you read that correctly, Surinamese noodles are made with strands of spaghetti! But let's start with the meat and marinating first. Take the chicken breast and clean it. Then cut pieces of 2 by 2 centimeters and put them in a bowl.
-Take in the tomatoes and remove the seeds. Clean and finely chop the onions and garlic. Then add all this to the meat in the bowl and add a 50 ml Javanese marinade mix. Let it all marinate now. The best thing for this recipe Surinamese noodles is to just leave it in the fridge overnight.
Making the pickles
Making the pickles is very easy, take a small bowl and add the vinegar, the sugar and a pinch of salt and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Taste to see if you like the sweet/sour ratio and if not, adjust it to taste. Cut the onion into half rings and cut pieces of the cucumber. Add these to the bowl with the allspice grains and the clove of garlic and let it marinate well.
Making Jen's Surinamese noodles
-Take a large pan and cook the spaghetti al dente. Don't cook too far that it becomes too soft. Then drain and rinse under the tap with cold water.
- Meanwhile, finely chop the parsley and cut the bell pepper into cubes.
-Heat a wok and put some oil in it, then fry the chicken in it and set it aside.

-Then add the spaghetti with the parsley and bell pepper in the wok and “turn” it all through the sauce that is left over from the chicken in the wok. You can add some extra soy sauce if it is still too dry. Season with the 5-spices, salt, pepper. Finally, add the chicken back into the wok and make sure everything is heated up nicely.
