When the weather outside lets us down a bit and the stove is whirring inside... then it's time for comfort food! A wonderfully simmering pan on the fire that spreads fine scents in your kitchen. Like this bean stew. It's actually a kind of chili con carne recipe with a Tex-Mex twist. And a little Dutch glory incorporated through the smoked sausage. And of course quite a few herbs and spices. As you can see in the photos of this Tex Mex cowboy stew, we use curry and paprika powder, among other things. But a little chilli and a lot of garlic wouldn't go amiss. Do you have any left over? Then use it as a filling for tortillas with some extra guacamole and salsa. tex-mex stew

Your kitchen will smell wonderful when this pot rises!

TexMex is a style of cuisine that developed in the United States and is associated with Texan and Mexican cuisine. The word “TexMex” is actually a portmanteau of “Texas” and “Mexican”. The origins of TexMex can be found in the border region between Texas and Mexico, where the two cuisines meet and influence each other.

Tex-Mex cuisine originated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries when Texan dishes like chili con carne and Mexican dishes like tamales and enchiladas were uniquely fused and adapted to American tastes. The result was a colorful fusion that created new and flavorful dishes. Dishes like nachos, burritos, and fajitas have become staples in the culinary world and have even become a favorite part of parties and dinner parties. The combination of spicy flavors and fresh ingredients makes for a real treat for the taste buds, perfect for anyone who enjoys a spicy and fun food culture!

Comfort food like this Tex Mex cowboy stew is, in my opinion, a real winter meal. It fills you up and we use smoked sausage, which I often only eat in the winter myself texmex stewTex Mex stew
