And this time we will also make a spicy syrup for a delicious mocktail. Especially with rum, a “sweet” in your glass fits well. I often make tea with a piece of lemongrass in it, that gives a lot of flavor to your drink. So this time we “brew” our own syrup. I always have a few bottles of homemade syrup in the fridge, because you can keep them for quite a long time. This virgin rum lemongrass mocktail recipe is also very good to serve as a cocktail. Just replace the alcohol-free rum with real rum. The choice of rum certainly determines the taste of your drink.

- 200 gram sugar
- 150 ml water
- 1 stem lemongrass
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 citroen - squeezed
For the mocktail:
- 2 el lemongrass syrup
- 100 ml non-alcoholic rum
- ice cubes
- 2 cinnamon sticks - for decoration
- 2 stems lemongrass
- 2 lemon slices
- 200 ml Spa red
Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.
And this is how you make it:
- Let's make the syrup first. Clean the lemon well and grate some zest from the zest, squeeze out the juice.
- Take a saucepan and add the sugar, water, lemon juice, lemongrass stalk, and cinnamon sticks. Bring to the boil and then let it simmer until it has reduced to a nice syrup. Pour everything through a colander into a glass bottle or jar and let it cool.
- Grab the glasses and put the lemongrass and cinnamon sticks in it, so this is not necessary for decoration if you don't want that. Fill the glass with ice cubes.
- Pour 1 tbsp syrup per glass and 50 ml alcohol-free rum into the glass and top it up with spa red.
- Cheers!
