You may also know kaki under the name "Sharon fruit". It is an orange fruit with a hard shell that you can eat. On the inside fairly firm flesh and also a nice orange color. At this time of year it is again in the supermarket or at your greengrocer. Definitely worth a try. This time we're making a winter fruit salad with persimmon. Delicious as a salad for lunch, but also as a side dish with your Christmas menu, for example. Fresh fruit salad
Winter fruit salad with persimmon
With this winter fruit salad with persimmon I don't use any dressing because the fruit is already wet enough on its own. We do sprinkle some poppy seeds on top. A nice seasoning with this salad.
A nice and funny fact about moon seed is that it comes from the poppy family, which also makes it a very mild opiate. While it's not enough to cause problems, it can affect a drug test.
It’s fascinating to think that something so seemingly mundane could be connected to a larger family of plants and have potentially remarkable effects. This tidbit is an interesting addition to the poppy seed conversation, which is often overlooked in the world of botanical research and sustainable agriculture. Not only does it provide insight into the diversity of plant species, but it also highlights the need to understand how these connections can impact our environment and help us conserve biodiversity. By looking beyond the surface features, we can learn valuable lessons about ecology and our diet.
Here you will find the complete recipe with all the ingredients you need. I hope you have fun preparing the dish below.
