When I order something from the takeaway, it is often wonton soup, but it is often not very well filled. With the exception of a few wontons, it is often just some broth. A wonton soup recipe can be different and I will show you that with this wonton noodle soup with shiitake. We will take a small “short-cut” because I bought the wontons ready-made at the store. That was just too much work for me to make them from scratch myself haha. Nothing wrong with that, by the way, because how nice it is to stroll through a store and see and smell all those delicious unknown jars, herbs, spices and freezer compartments full of these kinds of delicious wontons.
Wonton noodle soup with shiitake
In this wonton noodle soup with shiitake I chose chicken wontons and chicken stock. Of course you can also go for beef stock or vegetable stock. And thus also choose the contents of your wontons and thus make your soup completely vegetarian or even vegan, for example.
To give this soup some extra spice, I added a teaspoon of crispy chili oil to the pan. You can also add this per person when you serve the soup. Not everyone likes spicy food, and this oil has quite a strong taste. It is tasty, especially when you have a cold. It really opens your nose and throat! The taste of the chili oil adds a delicious dimension to the soup.
. Crispy chili oil is easy to dose to your own taste, so you can tailor each bowl of soup to your preference. Adding the chili oil to the pan distributes the spiciness well throughout the soup, while adding it per person gives you more control over the intensity. The more spiciness you want, the more chili oil you can of course add. This makes the soup not only spicy but also aromatic, which offers a fantastic dining experience for lovers of more intense flavors. wonton soup Wonton noodle soup recipe

And this is how you make it:
- Boil a pan with 2 liters of water and add the stock cubes.
- Wash the pak choi well, make sure it leaves the bottom on, otherwise it will fall apart in the pan. Cut the shiitake mushrooms.
