Sometimes you start something in the wrong order. And in this case, I should have made this article for you at the very beginning of the start of my blog. Because in how many recipes do I mention persillade? A lot, that is the answer to this question. And the question is often asked, “but what is that persillade”? “And where do I buy that”? So you can buy it ready-made in jars at the herb department. But if you were to secretly convert that per kilo price, you would be better off doing it yourself! That's why this persillade recipe.

For example, order everything in bulk from a spice trade. We are going to make a jar of persillade ourselves. Although one jar? We just make stock right away.
But of course you can also here order my own persillade mix! Because this one is now for sale from Van Beekum spices.
Persillade, a small piece of background.
It is a French spice mix. The two basic ingredients are parsley and garlic. Now you can make a “wet” version with olive oil, but you can also make a dry version. That's what I prefer because I sprinkle it all over the place. I made this mix in this recipe from what I bought in the store and it contains just a little more herbs and spices.

In France you often find these pots of the Ducros brand. A jar of 0.43 grams easily costs 2,50 euros, so making it yourself is an interesting solution. Its use can be called endless because you can sprinkle it over meat, vegetables, eggs and so on. I use small preserving jars and you can keep it sealed for a year. But I can't do that here.
Make your own jar of persillade
And so from now on you can also make your own persillade, and when I use it again in a recipe I can easily refer to this recipe. So you better see late than never, but sometimes you have to stick to a logical order! I'm going to improve my life….

Here you will find the complete recipe with all the ingredients you need. I hope you have fun preparing the dish below.

Make your own jar of persillade

print Email recipe Pin Rate recipeYou need:
Ingredients:
- 25 gr dried shallot
- 15 gr salt
- 25 gr Parsley
- 12 gr dried garlic
- 4 gr nutmeg powder - (1 scoop)
- 4 gr freshly ground pepper
- 15 gr dried bell pepper
Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.
And this is how you make it:
- If you add up all the ingredients you will see that this is a mix for a total of 100 grams. Handy to buy your jars on this.
- For each herb or spice, take a small bowl and weigh the exact amounts. Is it really bad if you accidentally weigh a little too much on something? No, definitely not, but don't deviate too much from it otherwise it will taste very different.
- Mix everything in a large bowl and fill the jars with it and you're done!
Examples of a recipe in which I used persillade? Try one of these:
In for example this salad with paprika and artichoke.
Or this one delicious bottle gourd Out of the oven.
But also this tasty mushroom quiche.

You can wake me up for this mix
He is also very good
I want to make this spice mix. But how do I get dried shallot?
Hi Gerdy, you can often buy these in jars at the supermarket. In the spice rack, and otherwise just search online, you can also use regular dried onion, even in powder form. Good luck, greetings Francine
Hello
I went out last week for dried bell pepper and dried shallot or onion nowhere to be found have been to the Sligro. Where do you get this?
I buy those things from Van Beekum online, but at the Albert Heijn they also sell it in small jars at the spice section. Gr Francine
At Albert Heyn I buy bags of persillade. Are intended for making herb butter or snail butter. Super and cheap. It's called Epices, blend for persillade. From the French brand Menetrel.
This is really nice to use with dishes. I always dry all my onions/shallots and peppers in the drying oven. So almost always in stock to mix :). At this time, chicken thighs in mushroom sauce is standing up. Also here are 2 tablespoons of persillade
Obviously a big fan! Nice to hear, gr Francine
I really get that summer feeling again
It can certainly give you that, but can also be used all year round.
Sounds good to me, but if you do dry everything yourself first in the food dryer, then it is completely homemade. Plus, I want it organic. Had this for my birthday last year. Make my own yogurt in it. My basement is overflowing, gives such a wonderful feeling, that I do it all myself. I'm experimenting more and more.
Unfortunately I can't have any more salt...
What can I season it with?
Hi, I would go for fresh herbs, a pepper, different kinds of spices etc.
Gr Francine
I made it today exactly according to the recipe. I did use dried parsley and rubbed it finely through a sieve. There are now 2 shoulder chops simmering with the new persillade. It smells delicious!! What a great idea to make your own. Thanks for the nice recipe.
Thank you. Finally I have the recipe. It is also very tasty to make herb butter,
Should be added how to dry your garlic and onions
Not how to buy all individually and just mix
It's not really “make it yourself” recipe
Most people do not have a dry oven in their house. So I am giving you my recipe with exact measurements to create the perfect persillade. Nowhere do I claim that this is a make it yourself, you mix it the way I meant it and how it is supposed to taste. Happening mixing! kind regards Francine
