Estimated reading time: 9 minutes

Most people will have noticed that we traveled to Vienna. This year I was celebrating my XNUMXth birthday and we decided we would have a nice time there trip could book around. Enjoy a romantic city trip to Vienna in one and a half days for just the two of you. Of course we tried to see, taste and discover as much as possible in this short time during our day trip Vienna. I'll let you enjoy our trip here that will certainly not soon be forgotten! Vienna hotel attractions

You know you are in Vienna when you see the carriages driving between the classical buildings.

Hilton Vienna Plaza

You've seen before that I like to stay at the Hilton. Also this time in Vienna. The hotel is located on the edge of the center and a ten minute walk takes you to the Stephansplatz near the terraces. The hotel has a beautiful penthouse floor where we had a room. A nice view of the city is thus guaranteed. Also, they shamefully spoiled me with breakfast in the room. Two trolleys with cake, bubbles, extensive breakfast. Everything was taken care of down to the last detail. The receptionist was extremely helpful with explanations about Vienna and how and where we could get there the fastest by taxi, public transport or on foot.

A lovely spacious room with balcony on the penthouse floor of the Hilton Vienna Plaza.

City trip Vienna in a day and a half: The first evening in Vienna

We reserved a table at Motto Am Fluss. The entrance is a bit hidden in what appears to be a subway entrance. But once inside a beautiful view over the Danube. Fast flowing water that slides past you, almost mint green in color. The restaurant overlooks a kind of boulevard on the water.

Plenty of graffiti and lots of chilling young people and eateries and live music. We ate delicious small snacks as a starter, drank a nice Riesling and ordered a Wiener schnitzel. And that was quite a surprise. Super airy and crispy breadcrumbs, wafer-thin veal. But the potato salads were also very pleasant.

Motto Am Fluss, we had a delicious meal there.

Day two, strolling all day

After the fantastic breakfast in the room, we decided to take the metro to Schönbrunn Palace. The best tip I can give is that you have to move on the electric steps that you can find everywhere on the street. Just log in to an app, and away you go! So we were at the metro in no time and at the palace in twenty minutes. What an imposing building, due to time constraints we have not been to the Schloss. We did take a horse and carriage tour through the gardens. In half an hour you drive around and you already see a lot of beautiful art and the palace. Posing on the stairs is of course a must.

We start the day with breakfast on our own terrace and a view over Vienna.
You can wander around the gardens for hours and hours.
Schönbrunn Palace, you must have been there!
Sacher torte, must not be missed!

Because we had breakfast so much, we didn't have much appetite for an elaborate lunch. But you can celebrate your birthday in Vienna with yes: Sacher torte at Hotel Sacher in the heart of the city center. The imposing building is dotted with crystal chandeliers, red plush, and marble floors. And as expected we paid 27 euros for one Wiener café, two Sacher tortes, and one spa red. Oh, it's a bit part of it, isn't it.

You eat Sacher torte at Hotel Sacher! Costs a small amount of money, but hey, it's vacation!
Crystals from the floor to the ceiling, you can't believe your eyes!

Shop till you drop…

We continue our day in the center. If you like shopping, Vienna is the place to be. All major luxury brands can be found there. And you have a huge amount of shop windows full of diamonds, watches, a mecca for ladies who like some glitter. You can actually find terraces everywhere to have a drink or a small bite to eat. In general, the staff everywhere is very friendly and helpful. vienna sights

With the electric scooter…

We find two scooters via the location finder in the app on the phone. Hop on it and on to the other side of Vienna. To the Belvedere again another country house of mega proportions. While driving you see a huge amount of the city and it is not nearly as tiring as walking. At the palace is a lovely terrace in the shade and we decide to fill the inner man a bit. An original Wiener sausage with Kaiser bread roll and mustard. Then we walk through the beautifully landscaped garden. Vienna Attractions

One of the many palaces in Vienna, what a splendor everywhere.

City trip Vienna in a day and a half: Pramerl & the Wolf

We had already made a reservation at a Michelin star restaurant the night before. Of course, my birthday had to be celebrated in style. After freshening up and changing clothes at the Hilton hotel, we hop on the scooter again. We drive through a nice neighborhood with all kinds of terraces and arrive at the Pramergasse. A bit hidden there is Pramerl & the Wolf. The wolf is Wolfgang the chef who only started cooking at the age of thirty-five. He will have his first star in no time.

With only five tables, reservations are a must! The rest of the evening we are completely overwhelmed by all the bold flavors, perfect wines and special choices of wine and food from this chef and the sommelier. Dress up? You can, but it is certainly not necessary here, this trendy place takes you on a taste adventure that we will not soon forget. Vienna hotel sights

It can't really be summarized in two photos, but what a surprising evening!

City trip Vienna in a day and a half

After this fantastic dinner we drive back to the hotel and drink a nice bubble on our private terrace near the room and our adventure of a Citytrip Vienna is already over in one and a half days! After breakfast, the Hilton arranges a taxi that will drop us back at the Airport in less than half an hour. They have a fixed price and we notice that that makes a big difference with the rate we paid when we entered the city… What a successful trip this was, of course Vienna has a lot more to offer and you can spend a few days there in peace . Maybe until the next…
