Chef at home: Chef Danny Jansen

Estimated reading time: 7 minutes

For a while I had an idea for a nice new concept. How nice would it be to invite a chef to my home, and have them make a dinner with the products that are available to me? The best would of course be if it was a Head is who is a little known… And then it became exciting because who are you going to ask and who is also open to that idea…. Suddenly all the pieces of the puzzle fell into place when I recently visited Danny. Enthusiastic as he was, he said yes, and so there was the first Chef at home: Chef Danny Jansen!

Chief! at home: Chief! Danny Jansen

For those who don't know him, a little introduction. Danny is a chef at 24Kitchen on TV where he has done several cooking shows. For example: As only grandma can do, and the food truck challenge. But Danny also has several cookbooks to his name. He is also currently working on a new cookbook! So a super enthusiastic and friendly cook from Brabant! Danny walked into my kitchen with a big smile and after that it was really just one hysterical state and it became a very pleasant evening! Executive at home: Chef Danny Jansen!

the dishes

Of course, the house had to be spick and span, the fridges well stocked and the pantry stocked with everything I could imagine a chef might need. And that is also an advantage for the chef that he food blogger comes to cook…. Because here is almost everything you could possibly need! I bought a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables so that we had all the options.

The appetizer

Danny actually figured out pretty quickly what he wanted to make, and as if he were at home, he opened all drawers and cabinets in search of knives, containers and spices. As an appetizer came a delicious truffle risotto with a little ratatouille and a grilled piece of rack of lamb on the table. The idea was that I would write everything down step by step and work it all out for you…. but unfortunately in the hectic pace, some recipe has been lost!

The main course

Danny had already seen on my Instagram stories that I have a sous vide stick at home. So for the main course he cooked the celeriac sousvide in a Lee Kum Kee beans and garlic sauce. That gives your celeriac a lot of flavor! I had bought a delicious Jewish hare at the Keurslager and he baked it nicely in the clarified butter and then let it rest for a while. Served with some fried cucumber and greens grilled in soy sauce asparagus, so we had a main course with an oriental touch.

Bloggers at the table at Executive at home: Chef Danny Jansen!

I was lucky enough not to be alone on my recent night out, but to invite some fun food bloggers to spend the evening with Danny and me. It was a nice mix of ladies who almost all wore the same print without coordinating it with each other. It was funny and made the atmosphere even cozier! During dinner there was plenty of talk about our work as food bloggers, Danny's TV career and of course good food. Danny brought some wonderful old cookbooks that he collects as a true passion and hobby. His collection is so large that it does not fit in just one bookcase.

It was fun talking to other food bloggers and hearing their perspectives on the culinary world. It was also inspiring to see Danny's passion for cooking and collecting. It was an evening full of interesting conversations, good food and sharing our passion for all things food. I look forward to spending more time with these talented and inspiring people in the future.

The dessert

For dessert fromChef Danny Jansen we drank pineapple. Well you can see that in the video. One crazy mess in the kitchen with a delicious sweet dessert as a result. And if you thought it couldn't get any crazier, Roos one of the guests also brought a delicious Paris brest with him. You can find the recipe here.
