When I make my own mocktails, it feels like a process of experimentation and combination. There are no strict rules I have to follow, which means I am free to use my creativity and imagination. It's always fun to see what's available in the fruit bowl and combine different fruits to discover new flavors.

In this recipe I added the alcohol-free spirit of Lyres from London.

What I love about making mocktails is that you can play around with the flavors of sweet, sour and bitter to find the perfect combination. For example, my recent creation, the kiwi blackberry bitter lemon spirit, contains a mix of these different flavors.

You need:

3 whiskey glasses

Ingredients:

  • 3 kiwis - peeled
  • 15 blackberries
  • 2 limes
  • 1 twig fresh mint
  • 300 gram ice cubes - crushed
  • 1 tin can bitter lemon
  • 150 ml non-alcoholic spirit - e.g. Lyre's pink London spirit

Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.

And this is how you make it:

  • In each glass, crush 3 blackberries on the bottom of the glass.
  • In your blender, mix the 3 peeled kiwis with 4 to 5 leaves of fresh mint until you have a smooth puree. Add the juice of 1 lime.
  • Pour this over the blackberries in the glass and top up with crushed ice.
  • Stick 2 blackberries on a skewer and put a skewer in each glass. Cut slices from the other lime and put them on the rim of the glass.
  • Pour 50 ml of pink spirit into each glass and top up the glass with bitter lemon.
  • Cheers!
