Homemade herb butter in three ways

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

Today we are going to make our own herb butter. A baguette without herb butter at the BBQ, that's not really possible, right? I really love them and since I've made them myself, I've really got a taste for varying them. Working with black garlic had been on my wish list for a while, especially to use it in a tasty herb butter. The garlic actually tastes very sweet and not at all like garlic crazy enough. This is because the garlic is fermented. It is also completely black. I went to work and made homemade herb butter in three ways.

I don't know about you, but I can't get enough of a nice piece of meat or fish with a creamy knob of herb butter on top. It's so simple, but so delicious!

Barbeque is of course a great way to enjoy the nice weather and socializing with friends and family. You can prepare all kinds of dishes on the grill, from burgers and sausages to vegetables and fruits. But what really makes a barbecue complete? That's right, a good herb butter!

This pesto butter is also highly recommended!

You can easily make your own herb butter. All you need is butter, fresh herbs, garlic, salt and pepper. You can use different herbs, such as parsley, chives, rosemary, thyme, or basil. Finely chop the herbs and mix them with the softened butter. Squeeze the garlic and add that too. Season with salt and pepper and your herb butter is ready!

You can put the herb butter in a container and keep it in the refrigerator until use. Or you can roll it up in plastic wrap and slice it as you need it. You can also make different flavors by adding lemon juice, mustard or honey, for example.

Nice and colorful with the tomato in it.

Herb butter is delicious with a piece of meat or fish from the barbecue. Place a slice on your steak, chicken breast, salmon or prawns and let it melt. It gives your dish an extra dimension of taste and creaminess. But you can also use herb butter for other things. How about a baguette with herb butter? Or a baked potato with herb butter and sour cream? Or a corn on the cob with herb butter and Parmesan cheese? The possibilities are endless!

I hope I have inspired you to get started with herb butter yourself. It is really very easy and much tastier than the ready-made versions from the supermarket.

Here you will find the complete recipe with all the ingredients you need. I hope you have fun preparing the dish below.

  • salt

Butter number 3: the sun-dried tomato / caper butter

  • 200 gr unsalted butter
  • 8 green olives - little ones
  • 7 finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes
  • 2 el capers finely chopped
  • 2 el Parsley
  • 1 teen pressed garlic
  • sea salt
  • peper

Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.

And this is how you make it:

  • Before you start making your own herb butter, you must ensure that the butter is at room temperature. Then you can easily mash it and mix it with the rest of the ingredients. I used 5 cloves of black garlic for this recipe.
  • Take a bowl and put the butter in it, then add the rest of the ingredients. Mash the whole into a soft butter. Then take a piece of cling film and spoon the butter on it. Gently push it into a kind of roll. Finally, fold and roll it up and put it in the fridge to set. Easy peasy I would say!
  • Repeat this with the other two butters in exactly the same way. So I will only list the ingredients for you below, the rest speaks for itself.
