Product review of BK pan set

product review of BK pan set

As a food blogger I sometimes have the opportunity to enter into a nice collaboration with a company. And I am very excited about this collaboration! I can test the Wokarang and the four-piece Flow Cool pan set. Most people will probably have heard of BK before. A traditional Dutch pan brand from Kampen. In this product review of BK pan set I tell you more about the story behind BK and their beautiful history. And of course I will tell you about my experience with cooking with the pans and the Wokarang! bk pans

The history of BK

With a background as a coppersmith, Hendrik Berk started producing pots, pans, milk cans and other cooking utensils in 1951. Located in Kampen in a small factory that soon turned out to be much too small. When the instruction battalion also settles in Kampen, Hendrik receives a very large assignment. He will make cutlery for hundreds of soldiers.

When Hendrik dies in 1876, his son takes over the company. As a young lad of 22, he has to work hard to keep up with the growing market. Enamel is making its appearance in the Netherlands and Berk has to participate, of course. In 1893 the brand BK is officially registered.

Enamel pans

Johannes also succeeded in 1891 with the trend of enameling pans that had come over from Germany. He succeeds in providing his pans beaten from sheet steel with a protective enamel layer. And that laid the foundation for BK. BK Nederland has been supplying beautiful enamelled pans for over a hundred years. If these pans were not available to the general public in the early days, that will change in the early 20th century. The glory days for BK begin. There is hardly any competition and BK is the brand in the Netherlands.

Innovate

They don't sit still at BK. They are developing more and more pans that meet the wishes of the public. After copper and enamel pans, they are also entering the market with aluminum and Berkelite pans. In the 60s they develop the “cold handle” pans.

Stainless steel pans with handles that won't burn your fingers when you want to drain. BK also appears to be a major player in the field of innovation and design. Several products have been distinguished by various professional juries with a Reddot design award and the design Plus award.

My experience with the Wokarang

product review of BK pan set Wokarang

The Wokarang is a very beautifully shaped one wok pan. When I take it out of the box it immediately feels very heavy. The great thing about this pan is that you can leave the pan on the gas. So you don't have to move the pan to stir-fry. Thanks to the specially shaped edge, you can transfer the food in the pan with the included spatula. A lot less splashing on the wall and on your hob!

You can buy a lid if you want to simmer in this pan. There is a special steam release button on the lid. The Wokarang can be used on both gas and induction hobs and they can be put in the dishwasher.

My experience with the Flow Cool pan set

product review of BK pan set Wokarang

The large box contains four different pans. The handy thing about the Flow Cool is the lid. By turning it a quarter turn, the lid remains attached under the handles. no boiled potatoes that just fall out of the pan and no more hassle with a colander! Each pan also has graduations in the pan! I find that super useful. So you can see exactly how many ml or liters you have put in the pan.

These pans are also suitable for any type of hob and are dishwasher safe. Another thing that appeals to me is that the pans can be put in the oven up to 160 degrees. And if all that wasn't enough: BK also offers a 15-year manufacturer's warranty on these pans.

Product review of BK pan set

All in all I can say that I am satisfied with these pans! The design appeals to me, but the use is of course the most important. And it is clear that the pans will be used frequently here.
