A delicious beef stroganoff
Of course I did some searching again to give you some more background information about the recipe. Where did it come from and who invented it? At least it comes from Russia. The recipe comes from the 19th century and is named after the Stroganov family. A very powerful family at the time of the Russian Empire. The story goes that it originated during a campaign during the conquest of Siberia.
Due to the cold, the cook could only cut the meat into very thin slices, but because it is easy to prepare, it could be made immediately for very large groups. And that is always useful! In addition, this preparation method ensures that the meat retains its full flavor, making it a favorite for parties and events with a large number of guests. It's an efficient way to serve a large pan of tasty food.

Ingredients:
- 4 good quality steak
- 250 gr champignons
- 1 small can of tomato paste
- 125 ml sour cream
- 2 big shallots
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 el flower
- 200 ml cube of beef stock
- olive oil
- pepper and salt
- 1 tl chili powder
Nice and easy: click on the logo of your favorite supermarket to add the ingredients.
And this is how you make it:
- Cut the steaks into thin strips, peel the shallots and garlic, and clean the mushrooms.
- Chop the garlic and shallot and cut the mushrooms into slices.
- Sprinkle some salt and pepper on the steak and half a teaspoon of chili powder. Heat the frying pan and pour in a little olive oil. Add the steak but be careful not to put too much in the pan. I baked it twice. Bake the strips nicely brown, making sure they are not completely cooked through. Remove them from the pan and set them aside on a plate until ready to use.
- Spoon the garlic and shallots into the same frying pan and fry until translucent, add the mushrooms and fry for about 5 minutes. Then sprinkle with the flour and fry the flour for a while.
- Remove the tomato puree from the can and fry for a minute with the vegetables and flour, then add the stock. Bring to the boil and let the sauce simmer for a while.
- Stir the sour cream and the remaining chili powder into the sauce and stir well. Finally add the pieces of meat and mix everything together.
