This recipe is a little East Meets West! We bring the flavors of the East this way and use the fantastic Irish beef from the West. During my press trip in Cork, it quickly became clear to me that a lot of migrants also live in Ireland. All of which, of course, have brought their own food culture with them. As a result, you can also eat out in Ireland in a very varied way. Yet these new locals do use Irish products for the tastiest dishes. So I have this crispy beef in sweet and sour sauce for you, a perfect combination of two worlds.
Crispy beef in sweet and sour sauce
I made this recipe crispy beef in sweet and sour sauce on behalf of Irishbeef.nl and I can call myself a proud ambassador of Irish beef. During my trip I was able to see first hand how the farmers keep their cows there. And with how much passion and love they treat their cattle there. The Irish cows are grass-fed and spend many hours outside in the green meadows.
Oh and those Irish shamrocks? They love that! They are the first to eat them from the grass. Finding those lucky charms brings with it a sense of excitement. As they make their way through the green carpet, it seems as if the world stands still for a moment. It is a moment of hope, of happiness, that fills the heart with indescribable joy. It is as if the clovers form a bridge between the earthly world and the enchanting Ireland, where legends and magic go hand in hand.
Once someone has found such a clover, it is cherished as a precious gem, a symbol of luck and prosperity. And so the tradition continues to live on, from generation to generation, while the clovers continue to conquer their place among the grass. It is a beautiful spectacle of nature that warms the hearts and uplifts the spirits. So, if you ever get the chance, look for those Irish shamrocks and be enchanted by their mysterious charm. Their presence will definitely bring you happiness, even if it is just for a short moment.
Here you will find the complete recipe with all the ingredients you need. I hope you have fun preparing the dish below.

And this is how you make it:
- Grab two bowls and make the marinade sauce and the sweet and sour sauce. Prepare a bowl with the cornflour in it.
- Cut the steak into strips and put them in the bowl with the marinade and let it marinate for 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, we clean the peppers and cut them into strips. We peel the shallots but leave the butt on and then cut them into quarters. This way they don't completely fall apart during baking.
- Break the egg into the steak strips and mix well so that all pieces of beef have a layer. Then dip them in the cornflour and place on a plate.
- Heat the wok and add a good dash of wok oil. Fry the strips in parts, make sure they don't stick together. Drain on a piece of kitchen paper. When all the meat is fried and has a crispy layer, remove the oil from the wok and add a small dash of new oil.
- Cook the rice according to the package.
- Stir-fry the pepper strips and shallots for a few minutes until they soften. Add the sauce and mix well. Finally, the meat goes back into the pan and mix again.
- Spoon onto plates or into bowls and sprinkle with some sesame seeds and spring onions, serve with the rice.
- Delicious bites.
